Recharge Osteopathy & Migraine Clinic has been helping people since 2004, and has been on Queens Parade in Fitzroy North since 2019. Most of the people we see live within a few kilometres: Fitzroy North and Clifton Hill, Northcote, Fitzroy, Collingwood, Alphington, Thornbury, Carlton North, Brunswick East, Abbotsford, Preston and Ivanhoe. Plenty travel further for our headache, migraine, jaw and concussion programs.
We treat back and neck pain, headaches, sports and work injuries, jaw pain, dizziness, pregnancy aches, and babies and children, with hands-on osteopathy that looks at the whole body rather than just the sore spot. Appointments are unhurried, so there is time to find out what is keeping your pain going.

Your first appointment
- History. Your Osteopath asks about the problem and your health more broadly, including old injuries and accidents, because they often matter more than people expect.
- Examination. Movement, posture and hands-on assessment of the area that hurts and the areas that load it.
- Treatment. Usually at the first visit, if it is appropriate. Gentle techniques are available for anyone who prefers them.
- A plan. What we found, what we think is going on, how many visits it may take, and what you can do at home.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Bring any scans or reports you have. If stairs are difficult, choose an Accessible/Downstairs consultation when you book online and you will be seen in a downstairs room.
When to see a GP or go to hospital instead: severe pain after an accident or fall, a sudden severe headache, new numbness or weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, chest pain, or fever with neck or back pain. In an emergency, call 000.

Questions people ask
Do I need a referral to see an Osteopath?
No. If you have one, bring it.
Can I claim on my health fund?
Yes, on the spot through HICAPS, with most extras policies.
How much does an Osteopath consultation cost?
An initial consultation is $184 and a return visit $174, both 45 minutes. Longer and shorter appointments are in the fees table above. With most extras policies your health fund pays part of this on the spot.
Is osteopathy covered by Medicare?
Only with a GP referral. If your GP sets up a chronic condition management plan, Medicare covers part of the cost of up to five allied health visits a year, including osteopathy. Otherwise most private health extras policies cover osteopathy, and you can claim on the spot with HICAPS.
How long is an appointment?
Most consultations are 45 minutes, with 60-minute extended consultations for more complex problems and 30-minute short returns when your Osteopath recommends them. Your first visit allows time for a full history and examination as well as treatment.
Do you treat babies and children?
Yes. Several of our Osteopaths have postgraduate training in paediatric and cranial osteopathy. Osteopathy for children
Can I get in today?
Often. Check online for same-day times, or call reception, who keep a cancellation list.
Is the clinic accessible?
We have treatment rooms downstairs as well as upstairs. If stairs are difficult for you, choose an Accessible/Downstairs consultation when you book online, or tell reception when you call, and you will be seen downstairs.
Should I see an Osteopath or a chiropractor?
Neither is better for everyone. Both are university-trained and registered with AHPRA. Osteopaths use a broad range of hands-on techniques, from soft-tissue work and joint mobilisation to gentle cranial techniques, and look at how the rest of the body is loading the sore area. If you are not sure we are right for you, book a free 30-minute assessment.
What is the difference between osteopathy and massage?
Osteopaths are university-trained, registered health practitioners who diagnose and treat. Remedial massage focuses on muscle tension and recovery. Many people use both; our massage therapists work alongside the Osteopaths. Massage therapy
