Sciatica

‘Sciatica’ is a commonly misused term, often incorrectly used to describe pain in the back, buttock, leg or even foot. In reality, sciatica actually refers to an impingement of the sciatic nerve, which is usually caused by a disc in your back.

This causes pain, weakness, numbness and/or pins and needles down the back of your leg (and sometimes the sole or outside of your foot) only.

Pain in the front or side of your thigh, or pain in your buttock is normally referred pain from the muscles or joints in your lower back and is not true “sciatica”.

Regardless of whether you have pain in your low back, buttock, groin or leg, we will diagnose your problem and develop solutions to get you feeling better faster.
