Ankle Pain

The poor old ankle joint takes a lot of strain. It takes our entire body weight over our whole life and is significantly influenced by any previous sprains it has had and by any alterations in normal low back and knee mechanics.

Often when a sprained ankle is not getting better, it is because there is an associated restriction in movement through the foot and lower leg.  This happens because the force that sprained the ankle also tightened up the joints in the foot and the muscles in the lower leg.

Many ankle problems seem to be incorrectly called “hypermobile” when in fact the opposite seems to actually be the case.

The osteopaths at Recharge are trained to assess feet and ankles for these restrictions in movement. Even more importantly, they are able to use a range of gentle, pain-free techniques to get this movement back in the foot. This enables normal healing to take place, and allows strength and mobility to return to the ankle.
